Nelson just did a huge update of his website. A lot of new stuff is now available there, including a new version of 'Damienne Hobbs Reflects', which a 'demo' version (if that was just a demo, then you're a maniac Nelson...) appeared in NBC #1. Check out new version of the strip here!

Thanks to Rob Miller's friend we heard a stunning news: NBC #1 was 'Fanzine of the Month" in SFX magazine. Unfortunately, the review, which has praised 'Brownehayes', 'No word of a lie', 'Inner City' and 'Waving and Drowning' strips, isn't available online. But still, it's another small step on our way to global domination.

You want to see something quite impressive? Look at Leonie O'Moore's collection of comicbooks that she made or contributed to, over the last 15 years. We really should stop slacking around and start working...
Leonie had also contributed a short story "Andromeda and the Sea Serpent" to NBC #1 and we hope that she'll return in NBC #2.

For a few weeks now Aleja Komiksu, a comics dedicated Polish website, is publishing online some British strips. On this week menu we have 'Winter Fountain', a British-Spanish post-apocalyptic co-production made by Ruben Sanchez (art) and Daniel Cox (story), who had guided me trough the world of UK comics at the beginning of the NBC project. You can read Winter Fountain here.
Tim Rees, the author of NBC #1 cover, has drawn and co-produced the prequel comic, included in the special edition DVD package of 'Ten Dead Men'. It's a independent British revenge movie made by the same team who shot incredibly successful 'Left for Dead'. Click for official movie site.

The main idea behind the event is to present the comic art as a different way to show interpretation of freedom: from freedom of art, freedom of speech to political freedom. It is the example of history of polish pop culture where one can easily observe the “freedom” aspect of so called sequential art.

Nelson Evergreen. Remember this name - it will be huge. Most people who read "New British Comics #1" said that Nelson's art is the best of the best of the best... Well, it's definitely better than good.
A few links if you would like to become a Nelsomaniac, just like me. Most obvious ones are: nelson-evergreen.blogspot.com and nelson-evergreen.com. Sometimes he also posts at bloodygodawfulbands.blogspot.com and appears on supercomicsadventuresquad.blogspot.com - the link follows to his hilarious "Shadowquake and Shnookie". Love can be tough.
There's plenty of Nelson for everyone.

During this weekend Bristol Comic Expo 2009 (9-10 May) is about to happen. "New British Comics" will be available on Small Zone stand. I'm afraid I won't be able to attend it (tickets are probably sold out anyway), but currently I resident in Poland. By a coincidence on Saturday as well, a small Polish comicon will be held in Lublin. I will be present there with the "New British Comics" stand.

Dan White, the author of "Jackie goes to Hell" from NBC #1, got a new blog. He promised he'll "be updating it every few days with new and unpublished work". Check it out: milkthecat.wordpress.com.
Dan's great strip 'Terminus' is still being published at www.mindlessones.com. Gives me a lot to think about Dan's mental state.
Here are links to first two NBC #1 reviews. The very first one appeared on Downthetubes and the second one on ComicbitsOnline. Both are very kind - it seems that we pleased the gods somehow.
Also, we have got two reviews in Polish so far: Ziniol.blogspot.com and Komiks.Polter.pl.

Welcome to the blog of "New British Comics" project. This site will be an extension of the official project website (www.polygobooks.com/newbritishcomics) where you can find general info about NBC. Here you will find news about everything connected to NBC projects: current and next issues, reviews, information about distrubutions. Also we'll be updating it with any interesting info about artist who are connected to the NBC anthology. So stay tuned.
To clear things up: I'll be writing posts in two languages: English and Polish (yep, the grey ones). However some post can be published only in Polish or English, because they will contain information important only for Polish or English native speakers. I don't want to bore you with every single detail. Contents of bilingual posts also may vary, but don't worry - it isn't a conspiracy. At least that's what the officials say.
